YES Green Living Celebrates Grand Opening

On November 15, YES Conservation will open YES Green Living, a new store at 2814 Central Street, in Evanston, that is focused on items made and sold with the planet in mind. Shoppers are invited to attend the grand opening celebration from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and enjoy free food, fun and prizes.

YES Green Living is the brainchild of the father-and-son team of Joel and Mitchell Furlett, who saw the need for a venue that could bring together eco-conscious consumers and manufacturers for both learning and product access. “YES Green Living is a community hub for eco-friendly learning, shopping and playing,” Mitchell explains.

YES supports building community by focusing on families. The store has a dedicated children’s eco-house learning and play area with a solar panel, wind turbine, flushing toilet and learning window. Green living community monthly workshops will also be offered in their onsite classrooms.

In keeping with the store’s green mission, even its new stone floor is made from 100 percent recycled stone. “Everything in this store had to be, and was, built around the premise of doing something good for the Earth,” say Joel. YES will sell everything from Chicago-built Balanced Wind Turbines to Wheaton-made “It’s Our Earth” recycled material gifts. The new space also houses a renewable energy learning shop, a used book area and a water conservation area.
