When we give our body the tools and treatments to function as optimally and efficiently as possible, health and well-being are natural outcomes. This approach to preventive medicine, along with state-of-the-art technology and person-centered care, are what sets thriveMD, in Schaumburg, apart from other practices. With cutting-edge procedures like oxygen therapies, bioidentical hormone replacement and UVB blood irradiation therapy, the team at thriveMD works with patients to help them perform as well as they can.

Dr. Gregory Seaman is an alternative therapy doctor with a passion for preventive and anti-aging medicine using treatments such as IV vitamin and nutrient therapies, intramuscular vitamin injections, platelet-rich plasma (PRP) therapy, medical weight loss, high-quality supplements and other natural therapies. He opened thriveMD in 2014 to focus on health optimization, which uses a detailed health and personal lifestyle history to create a proactive healthcare regimen to keep patients as healthy as possible.
“I use a wide range of tests specifically tailored to identify and diagnose underlying deficiencies and provide treatments designed to address them effectively. Health optimization includes lifestyle modification, healthy weight management, hormone optimization, vitamin and nutrient supplementation when appropriate, and abstaining from smoking and drug use,” notes Seaman.

Gemma Piscotti has been the practice manager at thriveMD since 2016, and says, “While our goal is to educate people to be proactive about their health and utilize our therapies to stay healthy or prevent illness, many of our patients come to us when they haven’t been able to get results or relief elsewhere. We continue to research new and effective technologies to offer more innovative therapies. Our new ozone steam sauna, the HOCATT Platinum, is a groundbreaking wellness therapy. After a 30-minute session, some patients report pain reduction, blood pressure normalization, improved cardiovascular function and less mental fogginess,” says Piscotti.

thriveMD is one of three facilities in the country to own and operate the HOCATT Platinum Sauna, which stands for hyperthermic ozone and carbonic acid transdermal therapy. Essentially, it’s a standalone bio-chamber designed to give a combination of therapies sequenced to provide a gentle, but powerful treatment that detoxifies the body on a cellular level. “Patients see almost immediate benefits after a treatment. The biggest difference is often an increase in energy, but the HOCATT can also help strengthen the immune system, reduce stress, slow down the aging process and generally help the body to function more optimally so it can heal itself,” says Seaman.

A session typically lasts about half an hour, with the patient sitting back comfortably on a seat with an adjustable lumbar support. The chamber doors are closed around the body with the patient’s head remaining out of the sauna, and the chamber fills with steam, far-infrared rays and CO2. There are no side effects and the patient leaves the treatment warm, relaxed and refreshed.

Seaman believes the use of carbonic acid in treatment and the multi-modalities of the therapy are what makes the HOCATT stand out. “CO2 increases circulation and makes everything in the body work more effectively. A treatment can provide 10 methodologies, including ozone therapy, PEMF therapy, exercise and oxygen therapy, ultrasonic cavitation, CO2 therapy, electrotherapy, whole body hyperthermia, photon light therapy, far-infrared treatments and aromatherapy,” he says.

Whether they’re looking for relief from unyielding conditions like migraines, fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue or want to repair damaged tissues, the HOCATT can provide sustained healing. “The HOCATT has innumerable benefits. We see people with Lyme disease and cancer, diabetes and obesity, chronically ill patients who have trouble getting out of bed, athletes of all ages who want to improve their performance and people who are looking for anti-aging benefits. The HOCATT fits into our model of health optimization by making the whole body function more efficiently and effectively, and encouraging it to heal itself. It improves oxygen utilization, increases metabolism, reduces inflammation and infections, and supports detoxification,” says Seaman.

The practice complements innovative and unique treatments with a comprehensive treatment plan tailored for the individual patient, notes Seaman. “Patients tell me they didn’t know how bad they were functioning until they started to feel better. We’re all aging, but it doesn’t always have to be painful and stressful. There are tools available to help you get excited about life again,” he advises.
