Solar Tour Shows Benefits of Clean Renewable Energy

The Illinois Solar Tour, a day of free public open house self-guided tours organized by the Illinois Solar Energy Association (ISEA), will be held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., October 6, highlighting home, business and nonprofit renewable energy installations throughout the state.

This event provides an opportunity for the public to learn from fellow home and business owners that are using solar, wind, geothermal heat pumps, passive solar design and energy efficiency to reduce their dependence on fossil fuels. Participants will be able to learn about the benefits of being powered by renewable energy at their own pace as tour guides answer questions about how to harness the power of the sun and wind to fuel their home or business.

Guests will meet homeowners that not only power their homes with renewable energy, but also have electric vehicle charging stations to power their cars. Business owners will be interested to see how other businesses have reduced their bottom line with renewable energy systems.
