Circulation Day “Garage Sale” Tradition Continues

Imagine a garage sale, with lots and lots of goodies spread out on tables. But there’s no money involved—everything is free. That’s a basic description of Circulation Day, to be held from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m., September 29, at Unity Northwest Church, in Des Plaines.

Senior Minister Greg Barrette says, “We invite everyone in the northwest suburbs to simply bring their unwanted items to the church on Friday, September 28, from 1 to 8 p.m.. We'll get everything sorted, and then people can come back on Saturday to take what they need from what has been left by others.”

Circulation Day began in Nigeria’s Unity churches in the 1960s. Over the past 35 years, it has been held over and over again around this country by hundreds of thousands of people. The recycling event is a lot of fun and teaches that there truly can be enough if we just circulate it.
