Samsara Premiers in Chicagoland September 7

A new film by award-winning filmmakers Ron Fricke and Mark Magidson, Samsara, opens September 7 at the Landmark Theater in Chicago’s Century Shopping Centre. Winner of the Best Feature Documentary award at the 2012 Jameson Dublin International Film Festival, Samsara was filmed over a period of five years in 25 countries on five continents, and transports viewers to varied worlds of sacred grounds, disaster zones, industrial complexes and natural wonders.

Samsara is a Sanskrit word, meaning “the ever-turning wheel of life,” and serves as a point of departure for the filmmakers as they search for the elusive current of interconnection that runs through our lives. Without dialogue or descriptive text, Samsara subverts the expectations of a traditional documentary and encourages individual interpretation, inspired by breathtaking images and transcendent music that infuses the ancient with the modern.
