Shuttle Astronaut Harbaugh to Speak in Lake Forest

Greg Harbaugh

Former NASA shuttle astronaut Greg Harbaugh will give a presentation, My Journey Home – an Astronaut’s Reflections on Life, Love, and the Mysteries of the Universe, about his personal and spiritual reflections during his four missions in space, at 7 p.m., October 5, at the Gorton Community Center, in Lake Forest. All proceeds benefit the Abundant Life Spiritual Center.

Harbaugh holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Aeronautical and Astronautical Engineering from Purdue University and a Master of Science degree in Physical Science from the University of Houston. He was selected into the NASA astronaut program in 1987 and flew four shuttle missions. Harbaugh has logged a total of 818 hours in space, including 18 hours, 29 minutes EVA (extravehicular activity, aka ‘space walk’).

“We are delighted to bring such a unique spiritual perspective to people though this event,” says Reverend Carol Saunders, Abundant Life Spiritual Center founder and spiritual director. “Greg has seen our world from a place the vast majority of us have never been. He will share his heart and deep reflections with us and speak very personally of his experience in space and how he was changed by it. This is not a presentation you have experienced before,”

Abundant Life Spiritual Center is a dynamic spiritual community with a focus on awakening those who walk through their doors to the divine within and inspiring them to live confidently, passionately and powerfully.
