Check Out the Electric Cars

As part of National Drive Electric Week from September 8 through 16, local events will take place from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., September 15, in the St. John’s North Lot in downtown Highland Park, and from noon to 4 p.m., September 16, at the Evanston Civic Center.

Intended to heighten awareness of the widespread availability of plug-in vehicles and highlight the benefits of all-electric and plug-in hybrid-electric cars, trucks, motorcycles and more (EV), there’ll be many of the currently available plug-in vehicles on display and available for test drives, including cars, SUVs and vans. Electric car owners will talk about their real-world experiences with the vehicles.

EVs are fun to drive, less expensive and more convenient to fuel than gasoline vehicles. They are better for the environment, promote local jobs and reduce our dependence on foreign oil.

Admission is free. Location: St. John’s North Lot, on St. John’s north of Central St., Highland Park; 2100 Ridge Ave., Evanston. For more information or for owners to register, visit GoGreenIllinois.org/events/electric-car-expo-in-evanston.
