3 Easy Steps to Living a High-Energy Day

When we’re in a positive high-energy state, we often feel like we can do anything, but many of us struggle to accomplish our daily goals because we lack the strength to get them done. Learning how to increase and sustain our energy requires a keen self-awareness of the power to change how we experience our daily life. Think of our current energy state as a connector to help move forward through the day. For instance, whether we have a job interview, are meeting friends for dinner or need to be present for our child’s parent-teacher conference, our level of energy is going to affect the outcome of these situations. If we’re not enthusiastic or sharp, or if we simply don’t believe in ourselves (i.e. “I’m not qualified for this job”), it’s nearly impossible to move through the day productively and happily, much less influence a prospective employer.

Say good morning to the morning trio practice below and discover a boosted sense of inner strength to chip away at daily aspirations. The trio is comprised of three exercises that stimulate our physiology to get our psyche in a positive place. It’s like an official start to our morning motor.

1. Plug In. Sit with eyes closed and connect to the desire to live your best day. Get clear about what that looks like. If you’re not sure, ask yourself, “What’s one thing I can do today to take a step toward an important goal in my life?” Then envision that goal. Where are you? What are you doing? Who are you with? See and sense the entire scene. Feel the confidence to get there. Your energy field will begin to shift with this thought.

2. Move. Stand up and spread your feet wide apart. Inhale to a count of four, lift the arms above your head rising up on the toes and reach upward toward your vision. Then, exhale to a count of four as you lower the arms to your sides, bending the knees while bringing the heels to the ground and sending your vision through the fingertips out to the universe. Repeat this movement and thought five times.

3. Say it out loud. Say something that inspires you. Say it like you mean it, so pick a thought, a word or a short sentence that lights you up. You should feel the exhilaration when you say these words. Chant it out loud several times as you use your body to express the conviction that’s deep in your soul. March in place, wave the hands, and use your body to concentrate on your outcome. Speak what you want to become.

When we sense this newfound vitality within us, we’ll have the key to bringing clarity, confidence and progress to our day. To start the process, simply commit to practicing the trio every morning for seven days and note the difference. Now, take a deep breath, smile and enjoy the rest of a productive day.
