We Don’t Get Enough Vitamin D from Sunshine

New studies show that low vitamin D levels are associated with depression and seasonal affective disorder. This is an especially important health value to have optimized as we come into the winter months.

According to research on vitamin D absorption from the sun, Midwesterners only absorb Vitamin D from being outside between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m., when not wearing sunscreen, from June to August, making correct supplementation even more important.

Other symptoms of low vitamin D include gum disease, muscle pain and skin conditions. According to current research, adults should take a minimum of 2,000 IU of vitamin D daily.
