Support Local Merchants this Holiday with Unwrap Chicago Campaign

Local First Chicago, in conjunction with the Department of Business and Consumer Protection and the city of Chicago Small Business Center, has launched the 2013 Buy Local Chicago holiday campaign, Unwrap Chicago. In addition, Local First Chicago is encouraging all Chicago residents to take action and pledge online to shift $365 in shopping to local businesses throughout the coming year.

Peter Locke, president of Local First Chicago, states, “When people shop locally, they support local prosperity, create jobs, shore up the tax base and keep a significantly greater portion of those revenues in the local economy.”

The Eat, Drink & Buy Local 365 program promotes small business year-round and encourages Chicago citizens to shift a dollar a day, or $365 annually, to independent, locally owned businesses, resulting in nearly $100 million in positive impact to Chicago’s local economy.
