Plant Chicago Harvest Party Fundraiser

Nonprofit Plant Chicago, located in the heart of the Back of the Yards neighborhood, will present a Harvest Party: Celebrating 10 years of Plant Chicago, from 3 to 6 p.m., October 24. They will open their firehouse doors to the community and share in good food, drinks, music, building updates and more.

Through the challenges of the last year-and-a-half, Plant Chicago has pushed forward with a new location; welcoming residents to grow in the Indoor Victory Garden, facilitating free compost drop-off; adding 30 small businesses to the Circular Economy Leaders network; introducing local food boxes at a sliding scale rate; and continuing to match Link purchases at their weekly farmers' market.

"Plant Chicago is working to cultivate local circular economies. Visit us to see our aquaponic growing systems, shop at our Firehouse Market or summer farmers' market, and hang out in the outdoor garden, which features chickens, vegetables and a pollinator plant area. We also offer sustainability-based workshops for folks of all ages" say the organizers.
