Navy Pier Welcomes Sixth Annual Green Festival

Green Festival, the nation’s largest environmental consumer event, will be held from noon to 8 p.m., May 5 and from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., May 6, at the Navy Pier, with leaders in the social justice and environmental community, including speakers, entrepreneurs and activists, as well as a dedicated kids’ area for learning about easy and fun ways to incorporate green at a young age.

Keynote speaker Rev. Jesse L. Jackson, Sr., will speak on May 5, and other leading environmental and social justice advocates include Van Jones, RebuildTheDream.com; Laura Flanders, GRITtv; Naomi Davis, Blacks in Green; Bianca Alexander, Conscious Media TV; Karyn Calabrese; Jeffrey Smith; Amy Goodman; William Ayers; Bernadine Dohrn; and Greg Palast and Reed Alexander, of iCarly and KewlBites.com.

In the center of it all will be a unique marketplace of more than 350 eco-friendly businesses, featuring sustainable products and services. Festival highlights include Ford Ride and Drive opportunities; Do-It-Yourself Workshops; Green Kids Zone; Green Living Stage; Green Business Pavilion; Green Jobs and Careers; Sustainable Home and Garden Pavilion; Renewable Energy; Beer, Mead and Wine Pavilion; Organic Local Food; Fair Trade Pavilion; Community Action Pavilion; Sierra Club Green Cinema; and Yoga and Movement Pavilion.
