From Scared and Sick to Healthy and Happy

Today’s Guest Blog Post comes from Linda Memmesheimer, founder of Think Wholistic, a newly founded integrative health network of individuals, businesses, health practitioners and associations which aims to serving the community through webinars, seminars and events and empowering people to a healthier mind, body and spirit.

This is her story about how learning about her illness propelled her to become more active and share what she’s learned with others.

Don't just sit there thinking all is well if that little voice in your head is telling you otherwise.

Our bodies are quietly telling us that we need to pay attention, but most of us are too busy, or too afraid, to stop and listen.

We think that little ache or pain is no big deal.

Why sweat the small stuff?

We shrug off fatigue because we are just too busy to slow down.

Things to do, people to see!

We ignore the way our stomach feels after a meal because we think it is normal.

Doesn't everyone have gas? They said so on TV.

We go through each day, just trying to get things done, and we do not take the time to pay attention.

WE NEED TO PAY ATTENTION!

Living life in hyper, cyber speed isn't living, it is just existing.

I was that person.

Then I got the call no one believes they will ever hear.

I heard the three words we all fear.

You have cancer.

And I was furious!

After all, I didn't fit the cancer mold (or so I thought). I did not have breast cancer in my family. I had been growing my own garden for decades. I never smoked, seldom drank. Heck I had never even had a cup of coffee in my whole life! Yeah, I was a woman, but so was half the population.

So why did this happen to me?

I needed to find answers and thus began to read everything I could get my hands on. What I read was astounding. All the signs were there, but I felt complacent and was reassured by my doctors that I was just fine because my test scores were all “in the range” (even though my head was screaming at me).

As I began to learn more, I changed my way of eating, exercised more, and kept reading and tweaking my wellness regime. I was beginning to feel better at 55 than I did at 25!

I have kept it up for over 6 years now (cancer free!) and I want to share what I have learned with the world.

We can do this people. We can live longer and enjoy doing it!

We just need to be more educated about how and why.

Good health is empowering!

Don't live in fear of chronic disease.

Live Life to the fullest!

It is time for a Health and Happiness Revolution.
