Everyone already knows that exercise is the key to health, but why is it so hard to do something that we know is good for us? The number one reason people give for not exercising is, “I don’t have time.” We live in a busy world, and we’re caught up in the thought that exercise needs to be done for a long time for it to be any good. However, just like eating a lot in one meal isn’t enough to starve for a few days, exercising a lot at one time is not the solution to health. The key word is consistency—and that’s where One Minute Change comes in. What is One Minute Change?

One Minute Change is a movement for individuals to regain their health and is the invention of Body & Brain Yoga founder and New York Times Bestselling author, Ilchi Lee. He created One Minute Exercises for the One Minute Change movement as an easy means of practical self-care in a society with an increasing problem of disease. The premise is just as simple as the exercises—take a one minute break every hour from whatever you’re doing and move your body in an active way. All you need is just one minute every hour to do one high intensity interval training exercise like push-ups, jumping jacks, or squats to focus on your body.

A new study conducted by scientists at McMaster University in Ontario, Canada, saw that 60 seconds of strenuous exertion proved to be as successful at improving health and fitness as 45 min of moderate exercise. One Minute Change is a complete paradigm shift of harmoniously incorporating exercise and self-care into your daily life without having to set extra time aside.

There’s also a phone app available to download to do One Minute Exercises easily. The app is called One Minute Change and it alerts you every hour to participate in exercises from four categories: Core Strengthening, Stress Relief, Weight Management, and Brain Management.
