Sharon M. Vogel - 2021 Women in Wellness

With 47 years of lymphatic experience, and 30 years as a licensed practitioner, clinic director and NLC Founder Sharon Vogel is a nationally recognized practitioner of manual lymphatic drainage massage and related modalities. She helps patients with pre- and post-surgical recovery, immune health, swelling, lymphedema, lipedema and other decongestive therapies in her Downers Grove and Joliet offices.

She first learned lymphatic massage at age 5 from her mother, a surgical nurse. “I remember she would come home from work with full, heavy legs and sore feet. She taught me how to ‘squeegee fluid’, aka manual lymphatic drainage. This is my life’s work.” Sharon is BCTMB National board certified, and earned Valedictorian cum laud BS-Biomedical Sciences at the National University of Health Sciences. She is the Illinois Chapter Chair for Lymphatic Education and Research Network (LE&RN).

Many plastic surgeons, medical doctors, doctors of osteopathic medicine and some practitioners from Mayo Clinic refer patients specifically to Sharon by way of the clinic’s reputation by name, trusting patients to The Vogel Method of Manual Lymphatic Drainage Massage, which she developed over 30 years. Her method is a three-step process of myofascial release, manual lymphatic drainage massage and lymph massage. The manual lymphatic drainage work that the clinic specializes in is endorsed by the American Cancer Society, the Academy of Lymphatic Studies, Midwest Naturopathic College of Medicine and the National Cancer Institute.

In 2021, she launched The Vogel Institute, teaching Postsurgical Vogel Method Lymphatic Drainage Massage™ to patients, caretakers and CEUs for licensed therapists.

“Being of help to those with lymphedema, oncology or post-surgical motivates me to always do my best work daily. Educating therapists to work on these patients is a passion of mine, to share what I have learned,” Sharon says.
