Learn About Climate Change

Chicago Botanic Garden Budhurst logo

On Thursday, April13, Budburst, the community science program of the Chicago Botanic Garden, is partnering with Varsity Tutors to provide a free virtual class for kids, "Fighting Climate Change From Your Backyard," teaching them how to play an integral part in protecting and preserving nature.

Budburst is the community science program of the Chicago Botanic Garden—a collection of researchers, educators, gardeners and community scientists working together to illustrate the human impacts on the natural world around us. They tell that story through data collection, data sharing, education, and personal connections. Learn more at Budburst.org.

Instructor Dr. Emma Oschrin received a Ph.D. in evolution, ecology, and behavior from Indiana University, where she studied plant community ecology. She says, “It's important for young learners to understand how climate change affects plants and larger ecosystems. This Varsity Tutors class is an excellent jumping-off point, giving students an engaging way to learn about the changes occurring in their environment and ways that they can take action to help address those changes.”
