IPPL/DGC Seed & Houseplant Exchange

Join us for the IPPL/DGC Seed & Houseplant Exchange! This will be a fun-filled day of plant/seed swapping and community bonding. Whether you're a seasoned green thumb or just starting your plant journey, this event is perfect for houseplant and garden enthusiasts of all ages and levels. Bring along the kids to nurture their green thumbs!

Located at the Indian Prairie Public Library in the Keshav Sanghani Meeting Room on the 2nd Floor. This event is a great opportunity to meet fellow plant lovers, share gardening tips, and expand your plant collection. Bring your extra vegetable, annual and native plant seeds, houseplant cuttings, or potted plants to exchange with others, and discover new varieties to add to your indoor or outdoor garden.

You'll find a vibrant atmosphere buzzing with plant enthusiasts eager to connect and trade at the exchange. The event will feature various tables where participants can display their plants, seeds, and cuttings for others to peruse and choose from. It's a fantastic chance to learn about different plant species, exchange knowledge, and foster a sense of community among fellow green thumbs.

Darien Garden Club members will be on hand to offer their expertise on seed starting and explain how to harvest them at the end of the season. We'll have seeds that need "cleaning" so you can get a hands-on experience. Children will especially enjoy snapping beans out of their dried pods and the miracle of opening milkweed pods and releasing the fluffy seed.

Our members will explain the ins and outs of houseplant propagation as well. Learn how to increase your houseplant collection easily with our tips for starting new plant babies.

Mark your calendars for this exciting event and get ready to indulge in your love for plants and gardening. Don't forget to bring your own bags or containers to bring home your newly acquired green treasures. This is a walk-up event; IPPL registration is NOT required.

NOTE: All extra seeds will be donated to the IPPL Seed Library that is sponsored by the Darien Garden Club.

If you have excess seeds, please bring along with your donations for other patrons to check-out.
