Chicago to Host Veggie Pride Parade
Vegans, vegetarians and supporters of a plant-based diet rejoice! Chicago’s inaugural Veggie Pride Parade will be held from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., June 2, in Grant Park. Themed, “Celebrating the Vegan/Vegetarian Lifestyle,” walk, socialize, learn and celebrate the Veg lifestyle.
Be sure to enter the free costume contest at noon, with prizes awarded by a panel of judges. Inspired by similar events in Paris and New York, the fun also serves a serious purpose—to support local vegans and vegetarians, and guest speakers will raise awareness about the benefits of a plant-based diet.
The Chicago Veggie Pride Parade is planned and staffed by volunteers from ChicagoVeg—a community for Chicagoland vegetarians, vegans, raw foodists and their friends, and a number of local vegan and animal rights activists.
