A Feastival of Sustainable Living

Edible Alchemy, a local and sustainably minded food co-operative, presents their annual Summer Feastival, from 10 a.m., July 28, to sunrise, at ECO Loft & Garden, in Chicago.

Daytime talks and workshops will be held about local foods, cooking techniques, fermentation, urban gardening, yoga and more. Guests will enjoy events, local artisan foods and local-grain craft brews throughout the day and night. Three stages will feature live folk, blues, jazz and rock, followed by DJs on the all-night dance floor. The rooftop garden kicks off with sunset kirtan and fire spinning, with poetry and storytelling in the third floor Hookah Lounge.

Edible selections will include mushroom ravioli with tomato sauce; watermelon, feta, and basil skewers; broccoli, cheddar and chard quiche; Thai peanut collard wraps; fennelettes; spiced brownies; kaicake; and vegan chocolate chip cookies, with vegetarian, vegan, raw and gluten-free options. Daytime talks and workshops will be held about local foods, cooking techniques, fermentation, urban gardening, yoga and more.

Edible Alchemy serves an ever-growing community by providing low-cost produce shares, fruit shares, honey shares and bulk items, as well as community and educational events and mobile kitchen operations.
