Footer Showcased by Chicago Loop Alliance at Pop-Up Art Gallery

Clipper 4 (Rashmi)

Palatine artist Scott Footer has been chosen by the Chicago Loop Alliance to kick off their pop-up gallery season starting June 6 through 24. A free opening reception will be held from 5 to 10 p.m., June 6, in Chicago.

In the solo exhibition, entitled Single File, Footer displays his works as though three different artists created them, in order to present the three highly divergent styles within his body of work. Alter-ego T. Ta’s work is a meticulous combination of painting, printmaking, carving and sculpture, with a contemporary interpretation of classical precision. Estee F’s works explore how the repetition of an image causes the image to become altered and accepted in our minds.

What Footer chooses to exhibit under his real name are sparse paintings with the balance he creates between form and empty space, representing the discrepancy between the information in front of our eyes and the information we “see”.

The artist uses reclaimed wood, including discarded decorative doors, for his picture frames, plus found and reclaimed objects incorporated within some of his art. He also incorporates recycled building materials such as stair treads and cabinet doors in some of his carvings.

Location: 23 E. Madison. For more information, visit Estee-F.com, T-Ta.org and SFooter.com.
