                Rosner explains that scientists suspect obesity is on the rise not just due to poor diet and exercise habits, but also because of the increased exposure to environmental chemical compounds called obesogens. “Women, especially of childbearing age, need to purge toxic products from their home,” she says.

                She notes that these chemicals are found in many household cleaners and personal care products such as laundry detergent, hand soap, baby products and shampoos. “Most obesogens are classified as endocrine disruptors and can cause hormonal havoc. They are stored in our fat cells and can increase the amount of fat stored by weakening the metabolism.”
