Visit Two Green Bookstores in McHenry County

The Green Read, in historic Downtown Crystal Lake, is a cozy spot to browse for a favorite book or the perfect gift. In addition to thousands of gently used books for both adults and children, it carries a wide variety of puzzles, handcrafted and sustainable gifts, and stationery products. Bright and cheery, The Green Spot is located inside the Woodstock Square Mall and carries DVDs and audiobooks, as well as gently used books.

Pam Johnson, manager of The Green Read and The Green Spot, says, “Our bookstores are the perfect place to find unique holiday gifts, including puzzles, pop-up Christmas cards, ornaments and a wide selection of Christmas books for children and adults. Go green for Christmas!” The bookstores are projects of the nonprofit Environmental Defenders of McHenry County, which has been protecting our environment and ecosystems for more than 50 years.
