Situated on a nature-surrounded campus in Elburn, Green Friends Montessori School is a nonprofit private institution serving children ages 3 to 12 through primary and elementary programs. Extended childcare is available from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. to support working families.

The school’s curriculum is rooted in the world-renowned methodology of Dr. Maria Montessori, who believed that children flourish when they are empowered to make independent choices. Students participate in language arts, mathematics, practical life activities and sensorial exercises designed to build academic skills, confidence and environmental awareness.

Green Friends Montessori School maintains a tech-free campus without computers or iPads, encouraging children to engage directly with nature studies, geography, botany and zoology. Through exploration of the natural world and space, students develop a broader understanding of themselves and their place in the universe.

Beyond the core curriculum, students participate in weekly art appreciation and music activities that foster creativity, curiosity and a lifelong love of learning.

Families are invited to attend open house events from noon to 2 p.m. on June 27 and July 25. Visitors can explore the school’s nature-based campus, meet teachers and learn about Montessori programs for children ages 3to12, including preschool, kindergarten, elementary and extended childcare.
