Celebrating Good Food at UIC Conference and Festival

The ninth Good Food Festival & Conference, presented by FamilyFarmed.org, will feature activities that include a trade show, policy summit and financing farm-to-fork conference, from March 14 to 16.

The Good Food Festival will take place from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., March 16, with artisan and farmer exhibitors, nationally noted speakers, celebrity chef demos, workshops on growing, making and preserving food, a bus tour and an interactive Kids’ Corner.

With the theme, Your Choices Matter to the Good Food Movement, the Festival will feature local farmers and food producers; expert Sandor Katz, speaking on the Art of Fermentation; Urban Farm and Brewery bus tours; chef demos from Rick Bayless and Paul Virant; make your own sausage and cheese demos; and the Kimchi Challenge.

Panels will discuss Good Food issues such as Organic vs. Conventional and Is A CSA Right For You? The Kids’ Corner makes for a fun, tasty, educational day. On Friday evening, a Localicious party pairs the area’s top chefs with local farmers.

The choices we make as consumers, diners and shoppers impact not only our health, but also the local economy and the environment. At the festival, people will learn how to make good choices and be part of the change toward healthy living.
