During Fashion Revolution week, Chicago Fair Trade commemorates the lives of the 1,134 people that died on April 24, 2013, when the apparel factory where they worked sewing fast fashion collapsed in Bangladesh by sharing ways that we can all contribute to a more just, safe, and ethical apparel industry and raise up fair trade and ethical businesses that are raising the bar.

Two events include one in person at the DePaul University Student Center from 4 to 6 p.m. April 19, with keynote speaker Andrea Reyes, fair trade fashion expert and executive director of New York City Fair Trade Coalition; and a virtual event with LA Fair Trade and New York City Fair Trade Coalition from noon to 3 p.m., April 30. The DePaul event features fair trade clothing swap; an ethical fashion show;  and fair trade snacks.

The Fair Trade Fashion Forum: Advocating for a Fairer Fashion Industry, features sessions on History of Fair Trade and Sustainable Fashion Movement; Apparel and Anti-Trafficking: How to be a better consumer; and Policy and Legislation: How to be an advocate. Fashion Revolution takes place worldwide, with thousands of events in dozens of countries.
