Learn About Summer Boating Opportunities

Highland Park’s North Shore Yacht Club (NSYC) is hosting an open house at the Park Avenue beach from noon to 3 p.m., June 7 and 14, to demonstrate some of this summer’s recreational opportunities on Lake Michigan. Members of the small boat sailing and boating club will display sailboats and kayaks, and be on hand to answer questions and talk about boat handling basics.

After a temporary move due to municipal water plant construction, the NSYC is happy to be back again in the clubhouse at the south end of Park Avenue Beach. Boats will be launching from the south beach and the sand ramp.

North Shore Yacht ClubA Highland Park standard since 1935, the NSYC offers adult sailing and kayak classes that start in mid-June. Family and individual memberships are available at affordable rates. All the great summer fun offered by the NSYC includes sailing classes, sea kayaking classes, use of club boats, kayaks and stand up paddleboards (SUP), kayak paddling events, sailboat racing seminars, clubhouse privileges, social events and parties at the beach. The NSYC also offers organized sailboat racing for Sunfish and Buccaneer 18 sailboats.

Location: Park Ave. Beach, 21 Park Ave., Highland Park. For more information, call 847-432-9800, email NSYachtClub@gmail.com or visit NorthShoreYachtClub.com.
